SHOUT 2016 El Niño Rapid Response (ENRR)
In February 2016, SHOUT collaborated with the NOAA El Niño Rapid Response Experiment (ENRR) with the goal of collecting observations of high-impact Pacific weather systems associated with the major El Niño that winter. Three mission were flown with the NASA Global Hawk samping weather in advance of impacts in southern Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, and northern California. Payloads included the Airborne Vertical Atmospheric Profiling System (AVAPS), the High Altitude MMIC Sounding Radiometer (HAMSR), the High Altitude Wind and Rain Airborne Profiler (HIWRAP), and a NOAA Ozone instrument.
